Ayala Alabang Village started as a 661 hectare Mango plantation owned by the wealthy Madrigal clan in 1972. 3 years later, in 1975, the Madrigal clan and Ayala Corporation embarked on a joint-venture to develop the land.
In 1978, the Ayala Corporation, headed by its then Chairman & President Enrique S. Zobel registered the 661 hectare property with the Securities and Exchange Commission as the New Alabang Village Association.
By 1981, Barangay Ayala Alabang was created and then President Marcos appointed Enrique S. Zobel as its first Barangay Chairman. Based from the 2010 cadastral survey of the Land Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Barangay has second largest land area with 697 hectares, just next to Barangay Tunasan with 851 hectares.
4 years later, on the 28th of April 1985, the majority of the Board of Governors approved the amendment in the name of village, changing it from New Alabang Village Association to the now famous Ayala Alabang Village Association.
The village is divided into seven districts with three gates along Commerce Avenue and one along Daang-Hari:
For the nature lovers, Ayala Alabang Village is a designated bird sanctuary with a combination of 60+ recognized local, migrant and migratory species living rent-free in the subdivisions 9,000+ trees.
When Ayala Corporation first designed the village, they allocated 5,358 maximum plots of land for total home construction. In its 2014 census, the Ayala Alabang Village Association recorded 20,000 residents, 4,552 constructed houses and 73 under-construction.
