Returning Students
A returning student is defined as one who has not attended WCCCD within the last two years. All students in this category must complete an application for admission and indicate that they are returning to WCCCD after a two or more year absence. Students seeking a degree in an occupational or career program must apply for re-admission to their program as well.

Important note: All students readmitted to the college after missing four or more regular semesters will be responsible for the curricula and regulations published in the current catalog and other official publications which are in effect at the time of their re-admission
Students who intend to apply for admission and register for classes using their veterans benefits should first visit the WCCCD Veterans Affairs Office located in the Eastern Campus 5901 Conner Detroit, MI 48213. The phone number is (313) 579-6924.
Veterans Affairs certifies enrollment of those veterans and dependents that are using their educational benefits. The staff in the Veterans Office serves as a liaison between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the students at Wayne County Community College District. The staff assists veterans with completing forms, explaining the various degree options available at WCCCD, and directing students to appropriate district personnel for advising. Veterans should schedule an appointment with a counselor or academic advisor for individual assistance.
Students are encouraged to visit the Veterans web page on this web site for more detailed information. The VA forms are available here in PDF file format, which requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. Click here to access Veterans Website, www.va.gov.
After completing all necessary preliminary paperwork, students should follow the enrollment steps indicated above for new, transfer or returning students.
Dual/Concurrent Enrollment
Dual Concurrent Enrollment students are high school students wishing to earn college credit while they are still in high school. For students under 18 years of age, approval of a parent or guardian and high school principal or counselor is required on the "Dual / Concurrent Enrollment" form; this form must be completed each semester the student enrolls in the Dual or Concurrent Enrollment Program. The application is available at the Office of Admissions at each campus location or at the District Student Services Office.
Step 1: Dual Concurrent Enrollment students are not eligible to apply for admission online nor register for classes online. Admissions applications are available at all five campuses and at the District Student Services Office. All Dual Enrollment and Concurrent Enrollment applications must be submitted to the District Student Services Office and approved by an administrator at the District Student Services Office. The application must be signed by the parent or guardian of the student as well as the high school principal. It is important to note that applications which do not have the parent/guardian’s signature and the high school principal’s signature will be considered incomplete and will not be processed.
Step 2: All Dual /Concurrent Enrollment students must take the Assessment test. The results of this test will determine what classes can be selected for enrollment.
Step 3: WCCCD advisors at the District Student Services Office will review the application to determine that it is complete, review the test scores and advise the student of classes to select for the upcoming semester. It may be necessary for the advisor to consult with the high school counselor or principal prior to class selection.
Step 4: After seeing the advisor, the student is ready to register for classes. Registration must occur in person at the District Student Services Office or in special circumstances after consultation with District Student Services at one of the campuses.
Special Note: WCCCD recognizes the need to provide special support to high school students who are enrolled in college level classes. It is expected that both parental and high school support be accessible throughout the entire duration of the student’s time spent with WCCCD. All Dual/Concurrent Enrollment students are expected to adhere to the same policies and regulations as WCCCD students. Students are encouraged to review the WCCCD Student Handbook with their parents or guardians as well as with their high school counselor.
Guest Students
Students who are enrolled at another college or university and would like to be enrolled at WCCCD at the same time. We offer affordable tuition, a variety of online offerings, and easy credit transfer.
If you are interested in being a guest student, your first step is to discuss this with an Academic Advisor at your home institution. It may be necessary to supply a copy of your college transcript to WCCCD, so we are aware of the WCCCD prerequisite courses you have completed at your home institution.
For every semester you plan to attend WCCCD as a college guest student, you will need to complete a Michigan Undergraduate Guest Application.

Step 3:
Senior Citizen
Citizens who are residents of the Wayne County Community College District and 60 years of age or older may receive a WCCCD tuition-free waiver.
Senior citizen tuition waivers shall be granted on a seat-availability basis in regularly scheduled academic classes. Although community service fees shall be waived for the senior citizens, they are responsible for the cost of books and class supplies. Senior students are expected to adhere to the same academic standards, rules and regulations in place for other students. Proof of age and residency are required at the time of registration.
Next Step – Determine if you are a new or returning student and follow the steps to enrollment for those student categories. If you are currently enrolled as a student receiving the senior citizen waiver, it will not be necessary to complete another admissions application. Like all currently enrolled students, you may register for classes online.
